Another unfortunate side effect. . .

. . .of my pregnancy.

I can live with the stretch marks. At least those are hidden. The flabby stomach--eh, not my favorite part of my body right now, but with some good ol' Abs of Steel videos, I should be in tip top shape by summer (bikini or bust, right?).

It's my feet.

I decided that it was time to get my butt in gear after huffing and puffing up two flights of stairs when the elevator was broken at the mall. It's been ages since I bought myself a good pair of running shoes, so I headed off to Roadrunner Sports to get fitted. I'm not sure if Roadrunner is a chain or not, but they have this awesome "Shoe Dog" clinic where you run on a treadmill and they can tell you what pair of shoes is best for the type of foot and gait that you have. They also size you to make sure that you have the perfect fit.

Everything was going great (perfect foot-ankle alignment, high arch, yadda yadda) until the gal asked me what size I wear. Six. No hesitation--I've been wearing that size since high school.

She shakes her head and says, "Well, guess your foot has grown since pregnancy." I'm a size Seven. Wide.

Now I know that may seem small, but I'm short--or petite as some politically correct people may call it. I tried on a 7 wide shoe and it looks like my feet are sporting paddles. Even my husband laughed when he saw the shoes I brought home.

Because my feet are wide, I also don't have the great color selection as with regular footed peeps. I now have a pair of bright orange shoes to attract attention to my wide a** feet.

Maybe I'll grow an inch taller in my next pregnancy to make up for this.

Oh my goodness! My feet grew, too. I was so upset because I bought these beautiful Franco Sarto pumps while I was pregnant and now they don't fit. Pregnancy is strange.

Yeah..one of those , The wide half sizes are a real pain to find.

If it helps, my feet shrunk for about a year after my pregnancy, and now I can wear almost all my pre=pregnancy shoes. Sorry about the orange. But I bet they don't look as bad as you think.

Yeah I'm with you on this one. Why couldn't my hips have spread instead of my feet? I refuse to wear the wide's, though, I just shove the dogs into regular and cry later. Or, I spend all summer in flip flops:)

Sucks doesn't it? I haven't gotten them measured for fear of what I will hear. I already have big feet {though I'm convinced if I didn't I would fall while walking}.

I became a 7W when I was pregnant too! My feet returned to a "7" after I had my son, but man, that wasn't fun!

My feet grew a half size with each of my children. Ugh! I don't think they got wider though.

my feet stayed the same but my butt and my hips are bigger which sucks and the stretch marks are even worse

I'm sorry for you! However, I would take bigger feet over bigger stomach, stretch marks, and hips!! Unfortunately, I didn't benefit from a bigger bosom like most ladies do, mine "maybe" grew 1/4 a cup size!!

I've heard that this can happen, and it scares me! What about my shoe collection!

that was funny even though it is not funny to you. My mother's feet grew as she got older. Maybe it is enevitable. She used to wear a six now she can wear a 7. Don't they say that our nose and ears never stop growing too?

My feet grew too and now I wear an 8 which look like skis when I look down. It must be common, but it stinks.
