Bean loves his Bunz! FuzziBunz Review and Giveaway

Mr. Bean has been sporting a fluffy butt (cloth diaper) now for four months. I use cloth diapers for many reasons: lessen my impact on the environment, eliminate blowouts and leaks that used to plague us with disposables, and financial savings (check out this site for a financial breakdown of disposable vs. cloth).

Ever since taking the plunge into cloth diapering, I haven't looked back. Sure we use the occasional 'sposie here and there, but those instances are getting rarer and rarer as we become more comfortable with using cloth diapers full time.

My friend, who I refer to as my mentor for cloth diapering, has recently recommended to me the FuzziBunz brand. I checked out their website and anxiously awaited the arrival of my (er, I mean, Bean's) fluffy mail.

I had the opportunity to try the FuzziBunz One Size Diaper and the Perfect Size Diaper. As the name implies, the One Size Diaper grows with your baby. The FuzziBunz One Size Diaper fits from an incredible 7-35 pounds. The secret? The FuzziBunz One Size diaper has button-adjusted waist and leg casings to get that snug, no-leak fit. Compared to other one size diapers that I have tried, the FuzziBunz One Size is definitely more adjustable (other brands have only 3 adjustments in the length while FuzziBunz has 8+ customizable settings). At first, it takes a bit to adjust the elastic to get that perfect fit. I had to adjust a little, then try it on Bean, and then adjust some more. However, now that I have a good fit, I will only have to do some quick minor adjustments as he grows. As you can see from this picture, the FuzziBunz One Size fits snug yet is flexible to allow for movement for active babies.

Sometimes I want a trimmer fit, and in that case the Perfect Size Diaper is my new go-to diaper. The Perfect Size Diaper ranges in size from XS (for preemie and very small babies) to the specialty sizes of Petite, Toddler, and XL (for hard to fit or for children with special needs). Most babies, however, will only require small and medium to cover them from birth to potty training.

Here is Bean modelling a medium (15-30 lbs) Perfect Size diaper (for reference, he is approximately 15 pounds. A small (7-18 lbs) would probably fit him better, but I would prefer him to grow into the medium at this point):
During the photo shoot, Mr. Bean decided that he wanted to do the leak test (after all, what cloth diaper review is complete without a comment on whether it does its primary job, right?) The FuzziBunz diaper was successful in containing the mess with the thirsty microfiber terry insert. When I changed Bean, he was dry--the fleece layer allows liquids to pass through to be soaked up for the insert while keeping baby dry. This is important to help keep rashes away.
We have now been using FuzziBunz diapers as part of our diaper rotation for two weeks and these are one of the first diapers that we reach for. We are looking forward to adding more FuzziBunz to our stash.
