UV Skinz: Review and Giveaway

Each summer, we go to Hawaii to visit my family (aren't I a lucky girl to have family in one of the best vacation destinations in the world!) I have many fond memories of eating katsu chicken, boogie boarding, and laying out in the sun to bring home my "sun tan souvenir."

Back when I was a kid, we didn't know about skin cancer. In fact, we would slather on suntan lotion or oil to bake and brown faster. I didn't really pay much attention to the harmful rays of the sun until I met my husband 6 years ago.

Skin cancer runs in his family. His dad and uncle had basal cell carcinoma (cancer of the basal cells--the small cells that are found in the base of the outer layer of skin). They have joined the ranks of the estimated 1 in 5 Americans that are diagnosed with skin cancer during their lifetime. In fact, 1.5 million cases of skin cancer are expected to be diagnosed this year according to the American Cancer Society.

Knowing these statistics make me regret all those hundreds of hours laying out in the sun. I can't change the past, but at least I can help to prevent my son from becoming another statistic.

UV Skinz is a product that I recently discovered in my search for sun protection for Bean.
